Welcome to the Salt Lake Area
Salt Lake lies in a mountain valley with the Wasatch Mountains to the east and north and the Oquirrh (pronounced “oaker”) Mountains to the west. At an official elevation of 4,330 feet above sea level, the city is situated on land that was once covered by the prehistoric Lake Bonneville.
The Salt Lake area is made up of several diverse and unique cities and neighborhoods including Draper, Sandy, Cottonwood Heights, Millcreek, South Jordan, Taylorsville and more. Many of these areas, like the Marmalade District and Sugar House, have been revitalized to create a very desirable live/work experience.
